thawing and shifting and simply living

We've been in a sort of hibernation mode throughout a good portion of this very cold winter. Lots of time spent in our home and in our heads, thinking, discussing, playing with math and engineering ideas, crafting, cooking, snuggling, reading ... but the shift in weather and daylight is generating an internal shift around here.

Restlessness, big appetites, expansive movement and ideas, the call to seek out more community interaction, lots of silliness, creative inspiration ... spring is tugging at us.

We had a fun visit with Grandma and Grandpa, saw the Lego Movie, went swimming, and stayed up late playing cards.

the first laundry of the season
I'm not waiting for the snow to thaw to hang out the laundry. It's well above freezing out there.

The hens are laying, the days are lengthening, and the snow is melting (well, it's starting to...could be a while).

happy feet

It's been so long since those toes felt the sunshine.

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
