digging potatoes

Can you see Camille up in the tree?
Here's a peek.  She picked somewhere between 80 and 100 honeycrisp apples up there.

We traded in being city-dwellers for country-dwellers three months ago.  A lot of our belongings still haven't been unpacked because we haven't needed them and we've been out of doors quite a bit.  The kids love that a lot of what we've been doing is new to all of us.  I had never grown potatoes before, raised chickens, tiled a floor, driven my garbage to the dump, the list could go on and on.  We are learning together as a family.  Yesterday Camille said that the best days of her life have been since we moved.  I think that's a glowing endorsement of our new lives, and I know we all feel the same way, (except maybe Ayla who doesn't care where she is as long as she is surrounded by her family :)

  1. Nikole, I just love this post. Everything about it. The apple picking! The outdoor days! The happiness flowing. I'm so happy you're getting to live a life that Fits you all so completely. Thank you for sharing it here.

  2. Thank you Nikole. We are truly grateful for your family and these wonderful posts...floating on your happiness. Thanks! Love, The Rayes

  3. lovely, lovely life you have there :-) i think i could just rap about it...but i won't.

  4. Great to hear they are enjoying it- save the unpacking for winter! I'm reading a book called "Country Life- a handbook for realists and dreamers". I don't need the info yet but it's a very interesting and informative book! (From the library)

I love hearing what you have to say. Leave a comment?
